I'm passionate about public education, advocating for the success of every child in Kent Schools, and serving our community. I'd like to share a little more about who I am and the values I hold.
I am a husband and father of 5 kids who have all successfully graduated from Kent City Schools. I’m thankful for the great education my kids received from Kent Schools and am committed to giving back to our community by working to maintain and continuously improve the quality of public education for every single student in our district.
I started my career as a 5th & 6th grade public school teacher before shifting focus to work as a labor representative with the Ohio Education Association. I have spent the last 20 years advocating for teachers, school support staff, and students. As a representative, I have gained deep insight into school finance, board policies, employee relations, and community relations. Further, my experience as a state and national level officer within my own staff union has also provided me with a solid background in governance, consensus-building, and visionary leadership.
When I am not working, I enjoy watching my youngest child play soccer, reading, sailing, gardening, enjoying live music here in Kent, cooking for family & friends, and serving as the lead chanter at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Akron.
I believe that our community only truly succeeds when each student, regardless of their background or socioeconomic status, is given the opportunity to be welcomed into their classrooms, to thrive in school, to experience a wide range of opportunities, and be challenged to grow to their fullest potential.
